Senior Trip!

It has been one hell of a weekend, to say the least. Long bus rides, hot and muggy weather, a nice hotel, and lines a mile long.

Let's start at the beginning. I had to wake up and be at the school by 5:40 am on saturday morning. It was rough, especially since Dunkin Donuts wasn't open yet, so I couldn't go get a coffee to wake me up. Of course, being forgetful person I am, I forgot my pillow. My mom ran home to get it for me before we took off. Ten minutes later, as we were driving across the Penobscot Narrows bridge, I realized I had also forgotten my phone charger. That put a damper on my day. Then Taylor Gauvin piped up saying that she had brought an extra one and would let me borrow hers. Thank god. I was relieved. I spent the next three or so hours with my iPod in, music turned up, and face shoved in my pillow; I was out like a light. You'd think that having two seats to yourself would make the ride a little more comfortable, but no matter how you lay in those things, there just isn't enough room. I embraced it though.

We made a pit stop in Kennebunk at the rest area. We each used the bathroom, knowing that we weren't stopping again until we got to Six Flags. We also bought something for a snack or breakfast, considering it was only nine in the morning. Then we were off again. Another three hours with my head in my pillow, at least until we got into Mass. Once I heard our bus driver talking about Mercy Medical School, it was all over. I was wide awake. Mercy is such a beautiful school. It looks like Hogwarts. From then on, I was up.

As we entered Springfield, we all got really excited, some more than others. I couldn't wait for the rollercoasters, since I'd never been there before.

When we arrived, we all threw on our swag bags, put on some sunscreen, grabbed our tickets, and took off towards the park. It took forever to actually get inside. We had to give them our tickets, go through security, and have our bags checked. Rediculous. Inside, all of the girls met up and tried to find a bathroom; however, those who didn't have to go (including me) went off to find some rides. I was with Kaylie, Mindy, Taylor Gauvin, and Chris, all of who don't like rides or heights. Awesome. I'm a ride lover and I was with a bunch of kids who didn't like them. It took some convincing, but they ended up testing their boundaries and taking on some rides that were outside their comfort zone.

After a few baby rollercoasters, we hit the water park. Tarik joined us there, so we could have an even number. We took on a few of the big slides, but the lines were forever long. We went on the adventure river, which was probably one of the most fun things we did there. We each got our own tube and floated along the river, encountering waterfalls and spouts shooting water at us. It was so fun. Then we went to the wave pool, where we splashed each other the whole time and just embraced getting soaked. We thought we'd spent enough time in the park, so we changed and went back to the rides.

Jordan, Mindy, Tarik, and I went on some more rollercoasters together. We laughed and had a ball, then we had to meet up with everyone back at the entrance.

The bus ride to the hotel sucked. We were supposed to get there at nine, but we didn't get there until almost 11:30. We were supposed to order out dinner, but we were forced to eat at McDonalds... Yuck. Once we eventually got to the hotel, we got our room keys and were instantly curfewed. We didn't get to use the pool or even go in eachother's rooms. We all had so much energy, and had no where to release it. It was bs.

The next morning, we were up and ready at seven for breakfast, which wasn't even that great. We didn't get many options. We boarded the bus from Andover, Mass. and began our journey to Portland.

We arrived to Summit Adventures a little early, but we had a blast there too. The wrecking ball, bumper cars, slides,  twister, and laser tag was awesome. Then we even got to spend some time in the mall. Hello, Forever 21 (my favorite store). I bought two new skirts and a tanktop. When I got back on the bus, this is what I found:
Poor Mr. Morrison had some sort of stomach bug, so he slept on the bus ):

An hour later, we went to Saco for some go-karting. It.was.so.fun! Some people were scared and didn't want to do it, but I certainly did. I've always had a thing for go-karts. Being the competitive person that I am, I was determined to get first in my heats, which I did. I had the third fastest lap time of the day with 23.113 seconds. I was only .2 seconds behind the fastest lap time, which Trevor had. Everyone was pretty impressed that a girl, especially me (the "princess") would do so well. I was the only girl in the top ten, even over Sadie and Sara Malta, who were also pretty good.

On the way home, the other bus broke down 15 minutes out of Belfast. That was karma for their making fun of us about not getting to watch movies on the trip. Oh well, at least I got to go home (:

Slacking

Scrolling down through the list of people I follow's posts is making me realize how much of a slacker I have become, even more so recently. Let's be honest, I haven't been keeping up with my blog posts, photos, etc. and I'm sorry for that. I have plenty of reasons or excuses why I haven't been: the blood drive, the senior trip, and a bonfire have been consuming all of my time.

The blood drive was at our high school on friday from 8 to 2. As student council president, I was obligated to work it as a "supervisor" all day. The morning started out well; quite a few townspeople had come in to give blood. Chris Powell and I donated blood around the same time at 8:50ish. So far, no one had been light headed or dizzy. We were doing well. I felt fine after I gave blood. When my 15 minutes was up at canteen, I went to the bathroom. When I came back, Chloe Carmichael was passed out on the floor. She didn't look good whatsoever. She started crying and throwing up, so she eventually went home. For a while after that, everyone was doing good. Then Andrew Marsh and Makayla Boyer passed out within five minutes of each other, and Mitchell Burgess fainted about ten minutes after them. It wasn't pretty. Actually, most of them were really scary. I was praying I wouldn't have a reaction like they did, and luckily, I didn't. Anyways, that was a long day of taking care of sick people.

I'm going to skip over the Senior trip because I'll make that into a differnt post.

Moving forward, last night, my cousin, James, had a bonfire for Billy DeRedin's homecoming. It started around 9:00 pm and I was there until 12:30 am. James, Billy, Trevor, Tyler Burrill, Brent, Jesse Lebel, Caity, Josh, and I were there. We made s'mores in the rain, told stories, and laughed until our stomaches hurt. Not to mention when Caity drove James' truck down to the shed so we could grab pallets. I was in the passenger seat and got out so James could look for something when we got to the shed. When I got back in, I sat down and saw a violent, scary looking spider crawling towards me. As soon as I saw it, it jumped closer to me. I started screaming and jumped out of the truck. I don't think my reaction time has ever been faster. However, I had no idea where the spider went. It could have been on my sweatshirt, in my hair, or crawling up my leg. Ughh, it gives me the shivers just thinking about it. It was terrible. I ran all the way back to the house. We spent the rest of the night telling more stories in the rain and watching James jump over the fire.

Even though I'm a slacker when it comes to blogging, I had a great weekend. Now I just need to get caught up again.

Don't punish me, Mrs. Morrison. You know I'll get it done: I always do (:

Spending the Day Outside!

Today might have been the most boring day I've had at school since the start of freshman year. Normally, I'm so busy in school with homework that I have no time for anything else. My classes are filled with work, my study halls are filled with work, sometimes even my lunches are filled with work. Not to mention the six hours of homework I have at night. It's a ridiculous schedule.

All of my classes today were pretty chill. AP Lit: discuessed what we wrote last night. Study hall: tumblr. AP Biology: genetics - bred mice. AP Stats: study hall - talked. Writing Lab: went outside. Gym: played wiffle ball. Sound pretty easy, huh? That's because it was. And to top it off, I was assigned almost no homework: just a blog or two, plus come up with a topic for my graduation speech (that might be a tough one though).

With my lack of homework tonight, I was able to take a nap with my puppy, Buddy, after school. Then I spent the rest of the day outside! It was a pretty muggy/crappy morning, but when it turned into a lovely day, I was thrilled. I definitely soaked up the Vitamin D. It was much needed too. I feel like the sun just makes me a happier, more chipper person. It definitely got rid of my bad mood.

Hope everyone else had good, homework free days too! To my fellow Seniors: I bet senioritis is kicking your ass as hard as it's kicking mine. Just 5 more days left of classes! (:

Girls Can Be Bitches

Every single day, I am fascinated at the rumors that travel the halls in BHS. Some of them, in fact most of them, are ridiculously untrue. The majority of the time, if it's about a girl, which most of them are, another girl started it. It's usually started with one girl confiding something secret in another, who then goes to tell her bff, but switches some of the facts. Then, that girl tells her bff and also switches some of the facts, or she doesn't remember them, so she just makes them up. Regardless, this "secret" becomes BHS's newest rumor and gossip. Since we have a small school, it takes no time at all before everyone knows, even if it's not the truth. Now, think about how the girl who the rumor is about feels. Do you think she feels good? No. So, the real question is: why are people so concerned with everyone else's business?

Honestly, don't feel bad if you can't figure it out, because I can't either. Girls are bitches. Whether it's because of hormones or not, every girl has the ability to let her inner bitch come out. Some just let it out more than others.

Sometimes I wish I was the girl who was better at standing up for herself when others are tearing her down, but I'm not. I wish I had the courage to say something to the bitch who started the rumor or said the mean comment's face, but I don't. I wish I had the strength to know that regardless of what someone else says, I know who I am, what I believe in, and what I can do, but I don't. I'm the girl that sits back and takes the criticism because I'm afraid of making people angry. I embrace their comments and slurs, often without a comeback.

It makes me so angry to think about how people go around tearing everyone down. It actually makes me sick, especially when I'm the person being terrorized by people who don't know a thing about me. Then I remember that there's a Taylor Swift song for everything and these are my two favorite song lyrics of hers: "And you'll say: 'Don't you worry your pretty little mind; people throw rocks at things that shine. And life makes love look hard; the stakes are high, the water's rough, but this love is ours'" and "You can take me down with just one single blow, but you don't know, what you don't know: someday, I'll be living in a big ol' city, and all you're ever gonna be is mean. Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me, and all you're ever gonna be is mean." These two quotes get me through almost every day.

I'm not usually the girl to post about her problems, but I just needed to vent. I needed to get this off my chest before the frustration builds up inside me.

I'm pretty good at plastering a smile on my face everyday, aren't I? That's what happens when you've been doing it for years. I bet you never guessed..

Prom Queen

Hi, my name's Megan Smith and I'm the Bucksport High School 2012 Prom Queen!

No, seriously, I am. It's almost ironic that I got the crown, considering it seems as though I'm the girl that's obsessed with prom.

Let's start with a few photos:

Okay, now that I've gotten some photos out of the way, I can write about prom. My sister-in-law, Heather, did my hair. She made it a sort of messy bun to the side, but it didn't look messy. It actually looked really neat and was all pinned up with bobby pins. She added tons of volume on the top and a few pin curls on the side. I thought it looked very classy.

When I got home, I did my make up and got into my dress. I took some photos outside with my dad, which was a huge deal because he hates having his photo taken. Then we were off to the waterfront.

After a good 45 minutes of non-stop photos at the waterfront, it was time to get in the limo! All 26 of us lined up in front of it for some more photos. Once we were all inside, safe and sound, Jon's dad came in to give us some last minute behavior tips. Then we were ready for take off. We tried to make it up the hill, but the limo didn't have enough power to get up that huge hill with over 3000 pounds of weight in the back. We rolled back down the hill, backed all the way up so the back end was basically kissing the dock, then put the petal to the floor and didn't stop. We stopped traffic. It was crazy.

Eating dinner at Crosby's for prom was a treat. They gave us free drinks, ice creams, and a whoopie pie sundae. Jordan and I both got the same thing: steak and cheese sandwiches with fries. It was yummy!

While waiting for all the people that went to Carrier's, we rode around in the limo for about an hour. Kaylie and I stuck our heads out the limo; it was pretty fun!

The prom itself was great. Almost everyone else I've talked to thought it was kind of lame, but my prom last year was kind of lame because I didn't really get to hang out with my friends at all. I was just shoved up my boyfriend's ass. This year, I got to dance and sing with all the other single girls. I loved that: just getting to spend some time with my ladies. Sure, the 60 year old dj played a lot of songs that were either impossible to dance to or just extremely old, but overall, I had a good time. Getting prom queen certainly did enhance that though (:

I wouldn't trade my senior prom for anything.

Senior Prom Day!

Today marks the day of my last high school prom. No more buying $300+ dresses. No more getting my hair and makeup done. No more fake fingernails and toes with little rhinestones on them. No more tanning and pictures at the water front. No more rides in 50-foot-long hummers and sticking my head out the massive sun roof. None of those things will happen again. It's very bittersweet, but I woke up at 7:00 am on this day because I'm way too excited for sleep. I've already started my "getting ready" process, and I'll post some photos.

Toenails:

What my hair is going to look like (this was taken last week in a trial run):

I'll make sure I upload a bunch of photos after prom! For all of you that are going, have a blast; I know I will (;

Mock Accident

My freshman year, the senior class put on a mock accident in which two students were "killed" during a drunk driving accident. We witnessed people being arrested, pulled out of cars, put in body bags, and driven away in hearse or ambulence in a re-inactment. Afterwards, we went inside and listened to a few speakers about drunk driving, as well as went through a mock funeral for the boys. I knew one of them, Sam, better than the other, Dan. Not to mention that I was best friends with Sam's sister, Chloe, and our moms worked together, so I was equally close with Shelly. I cried the entire day, and it really hit me: Megan, never drink and drive!

Today, three years later, the Make A Difference team put on another mock accident. I figured that since I didn't really know either of the victims, Taylor or Paul, that it wouldn't hit me nearly as hard as it did three years ago. I didn't even think that I would cry.

Well, I was wrong. Just like last time, I cried ALL day. When I saw how upset Chloe was at Jordan for causing the accident, I teared up. When I saw how devastated Jordan looked, even though he was pretending to be drunk, I lost it. Not to mention, as soon as I witnessed Taylor's mom start bawling, I did the same. I would never want any mother to experience what she did, even if it is just a fake accident. I know that as a mother, I wouldn't be able to handle it, whether it was real or just a re-inactment.

I shouldn't have even cleaned up the makeup running down my face, because not long after that, I was crying at their "funeral". Peter Remick was the leader of the funeral and compiled a really great speech about some of their favorite memories. The Make A Difference team had created a video of pictures of Taylor and Paul growing up, with sad songs playing in the background. Kaylie and I held hands the entire time. Neither of us could take watching Taylor and Paul's moms cry. It was heart wrenching. We cried the entire time. Right after that, Taylor and Paul read a poem about how they were at the scene of the accident, dying due to a drunk driver, and how much they loved their moms. Then I lost it again.

Although this was just a "mock" accident, it puts everything into perspective. My best friends were "the rat", the drunk driver, and the host of the party. Seeing them in orange jumpsuits with handcuffs on was a mental image I will never forget. It broke my heart to see them in trouble, when there was nothing I could do to help or take their pain away. Even though I'm not close with Taylor or Paul, they're still people I went to school with. Knowing that two people you attended high school with died, is a terrible feeling. I don't want to see any empty chairs up on stage at graduation.

In the end, I realized that it doesn't matter whether you're close with someone who has died or you just went to school with them, it all hurts the same. So, please, for the love of God, don't text and drive, drink and drive, or be distracted and drive. Always wear your seat belt, and drive carefully. I don't want to see or hear about any of you winding up in body bags.
