As a senior with 12 school days left of her high school career, my "willingness to work" level is decreasing more and more each day. I'm beginning to watch my homework pile up in front of me, with absolutely no ambition whatsoever do it. I think "Oh, if I get it done, I get it done. If not, it's fine. I don't really care. I can't fail at this point anyways." I know that's not a very good attitude when it comes to school, but I'm so close to finishing that nothing seems to matter anymore: I have prom, the senior trip, class night, graduation, and summer to look forward to. What gets better than that? Nothing, that's what.
However, today came as a shocker. At break, I found out that I got a random roommate at UMaine next year. I immediately thought, "Shit, how could this happen to me? I requested Caity."
I spent my entire ap biology class with no drive to do any school work, and just tried to figure out how to email someone at housing. That didn't end well. I never conquered that task, and ultimately just wasted 80 minutes where I could have been doing something productive.
At the end of period 6, Caity informed me that she had emailed housing, and since we weren't in the same LLC (Living Learning Center), they couldn't put us together as roommates. That really put a damper on my day.
When I got home, I facebook creeped my roommate. She had a 30 year-old boyfriend. No matter what anyone says, I would not be okay with having a 30 year-old chilling in my dorm room when I'm not there. It's just weird (I know you're all thinking it too..). In one last attempt to get out of this creep-fest, I emailed housing. Ten minutes later, they informed me that Caity and I weren't in the same LLC and the only thing they could do was switch us into another building.
We got switched into Knox Residence Hall, which doesn't have a specific LLC (this is partially an honors building and partially an athlete's building). Of course I was okay with that!
Not only do I get to be with Caity, but I get to live with the hockey players, the football players, the basketball players, and the baseball players. Honestly, what more could I freaking ask for!?
I guess you could say I'm a little excited to be done with high school and moving onto college! (:
I haven't gotten my rooming assignment yet, but I'm really excited to go to Maine next year!
