Prom Queen

Hi, my name's Megan Smith and I'm the Bucksport High School 2012 Prom Queen!

No, seriously, I am. It's almost ironic that I got the crown, considering it seems as though I'm the girl that's obsessed with prom.

Let's start with a few photos:

Okay, now that I've gotten some photos out of the way, I can write about prom. My sister-in-law, Heather, did my hair. She made it a sort of messy bun to the side, but it didn't look messy. It actually looked really neat and was all pinned up with bobby pins. She added tons of volume on the top and a few pin curls on the side. I thought it looked very classy.

When I got home, I did my make up and got into my dress. I took some photos outside with my dad, which was a huge deal because he hates having his photo taken. Then we were off to the waterfront.

After a good 45 minutes of non-stop photos at the waterfront, it was time to get in the limo! All 26 of us lined up in front of it for some more photos. Once we were all inside, safe and sound, Jon's dad came in to give us some last minute behavior tips. Then we were ready for take off. We tried to make it up the hill, but the limo didn't have enough power to get up that huge hill with over 3000 pounds of weight in the back. We rolled back down the hill, backed all the way up so the back end was basically kissing the dock, then put the petal to the floor and didn't stop. We stopped traffic. It was crazy.

Eating dinner at Crosby's for prom was a treat. They gave us free drinks, ice creams, and a whoopie pie sundae. Jordan and I both got the same thing: steak and cheese sandwiches with fries. It was yummy!

While waiting for all the people that went to Carrier's, we rode around in the limo for about an hour. Kaylie and I stuck our heads out the limo; it was pretty fun!

The prom itself was great. Almost everyone else I've talked to thought it was kind of lame, but my prom last year was kind of lame because I didn't really get to hang out with my friends at all. I was just shoved up my boyfriend's ass. This year, I got to dance and sing with all the other single girls. I loved that: just getting to spend some time with my ladies. Sure, the 60 year old dj played a lot of songs that were either impossible to dance to or just extremely old, but overall, I had a good time. Getting prom queen certainly did enhance that though (:

I wouldn't trade my senior prom for anything.
